چکیده

Abstract Anaerobic mesophilic batch digestion of lime-pretreated rice straw/chicken manure/ rumen fiber mix was investigated to determine their feasibility as a feedstock produce volatile fatty acids (VFAs). The influence solid content (10, 15 & 20%) on the bioreactor performance studied in system. increase gave slight VFAs concentration but higher productivity 12.1 gL −1 d . Response surface methodology (RSM) utilized optimize process responses (acid and productivity) using central composite design (face centered) with three coded levels independent variables (solid content, time). Based significant predicted mathematical models, optimum operating parameters for production were identified maximize acid productivity. values 20% at 24 h contact time. achieved this condition 11.64 g/L 10.87 , respectively. So, two developed models both have been confirmed experimental results can be used navigate space.

Study of syntrophic anaerobic digestion of volatile fatty acids using enriched cultures at mesophilic conditions

Volatile fatty acids are the most important intermediates in anaerobic digestion, and their degradations are extremely complicated thermodynamically. In this research, syntrophic anaerobic digestion of volatile fatty acids using enriched acetogenic and methanogenic cultures in a batch reactor at mesophilic conditions was investigated. Interactive effects of key microbiological and operating var...

Kinetics of volatile fatty acids and hydrogen production during anaerobic digestion of organic waste material

This short paper describes the changes in VFA and hydrogen production in time, during an anaerobic microbial digestion where the organic waste material was given as a substrate. The experiment showed that the reaction run most efficiently between 6 and 10th hour of the reaction time. This can be an indicator for future experiments on VFA and hydrogen production optimisation.

Effect of a Trace Element Addition Strategy on Volatile Fatty Acid Accumulation in Thermophilic Anaerobic Digestion of Food Waste. Waste

Purpose: A trace element supplementation strategy previously shown to be effective in mesophilic conditions was tested for thermophilic digestion of source segregated domestic food waste. Method: Inoculum from a mesophilic anaerobic digester treating municipal wastewater biosolids was successfully acclimated to thermophilic temperature (55 o C) with food waste as a substrate. Four laboratory-sc...

A review: factors affecting excess sludge anaerobic digestion for volatile fatty acids production.

This paper presents a review of methods that improve the production of volatile fatty acids (VFA) from excess sludge during the anaerobic digestion process. These methods are mainly divided into two approaches. The first approach is located in the pre-treatment methods, which change the properties of the substrates, such as thermal pre-treatment, alkaline pre-treatment, microwave pre-treatment ...
